For Professionals & Families Alike
Attendees include clinicians, educators, administrators, researchers, direct support professionals, and families — all working toward a shared goal: improving outcomes and quality of life for people with profound autism.
We know that it can be a challenge for many in our community to participate in events. Please know that we are working to provide the best conference we can while we keep related costs to a minimum.
That said, we want to make sure you are aware of opportunities for financial support to help cover expenses to attend the Summit:
State programs: State agencies sometimes provide funding for conferences. For example, the Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council (MDDC) offers stipends for individuals and families to attend out-of-state conferences, and organizations can apply for grants to help fund in-state conferences for people with disabilities, family members, or professionals. You can find the Developmental Disabilities Council in your state here.
Additionally, if you receive support for home and community-based services in your state, your budget could allow for caregiver training or education. Check with your contact at your funding agency (i.e., your Medicaid department) to explore options.Service providers: If your child receives services through a provider organization (ABA agency, clinic, or residential program), ask whether they have professional development or caregiver education scholarships. Some agencies reimburse families for conferences that align with the child’s care plan.
Scholarships through PAA: The Profound Autism Alliance (PAA) offers a limited number of conference scholarships. Applications will close on March 1, 2026. If you have questions, please email info@profoundautism.org.
Local nonprofits or parent organizations: Many local autism support groups, family resource centers, or advocacy organizations have small grants or stipends available for family training and conference attendance.
Employer or educational supports: Some employers, universities, or educational programs offer professional development stipends that can apply to conference registration and travel costs.
If you’re not sure where to start, begin by reaching out to your service coordinator or family support specialist if you have one. They are often familiar with what funds are available and how to apply.
Please note that we also offer single-day attendance options, as well as virtual opportunities, which can help reduce costs.
